The additional financing will strengthen public service delivery capacity of local governments, increase access to climate-resilient urban infrastructure and services, and enable immediate response to eligible crises in selected Somali cities. It supports urban drainage and flood risk management, climate-resilient streets, bridges and walkways, pedestrian safety and solar streetlighting, and municipal systems for inclusive service delivery. Institutional strengthening, analytics, and project management build municipal capacity; a CERC enables rapid response.

Improving Lima Traffic Management and Supporting Sustainable Transport Project

The Multiphase Programmatic Approach (MPA) Phase 1 will modernize Lima’s traffic management and support sustainable, green, and inclusive urban mobility. It finances expansion and centralization of the traffic lights system, an automated traffic violation detection and control system, safer intersections and traffic‑calming zones, and improved connectivity for non‑motorized transport (cycling and walking), plus project management and capacity building.

The project will improve access to climate-resilient infrastructure and basic services in selected Central African Republic cities by financing flood and erosion risk reduction and neighborhood upgrades. Eligible works include stormwater drainage (culverts, bridges, canal outlets), water retention basins, dredging of drains, and nature-based solutions such as urban parks, street tree planting, and gully/slope stabilization (e.g., Krainer walls and slope planting).
