The project aims to improve the climate resilience of the Recipient’s secondary road network, and in case of an Eligible Crisis or Emergency, respond promptly and effectively to it. The project will use soil bioengineering and biotechnical stabilization techniques to stabilize slopes and increase the resilience of the road network.
The objective of the Enhancing the Climate Resilience of the West Coast Road (WCR) Project for Samoa was to: (i) improve the climate resilience of the West Coast Road; and (ii) enhance local capacity to develop a more climate resilient road network. There were three components to the project, the first component being Improving Climate Resilience of the WCR. This component implemented measures to strengthen the climate resilience of the economically critical WCR, which is a key Government of Samoa (GoS) objective under the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience (SPCR).

Activities include improving road and aviation infrastructure, developing digital connectivity, and implementing environmental measures like forest management, vehicle emission control, and gender empowerment programs.
The Timor-Leste Branch Roads Project improves road access, safety, and climate resilience on the Gleno-Maubisse Corridor. Activities include slope stabilization, bioengineering measures such as tree planting, and infrastructure upgrades to reduce erosion and landslides and enhance disaster response capabilities.
The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to enhance resilient road connectivity in selected agricultural areas of Senegal and to support road safety institutional capacity development in Senegal. The project will use bioengineering solutions such as grasses and tree planting to improve road slope protection along constructed roads.

The project will deploy NBS to enhance climate resilience of road infrastructure. The Project Development Objectives (PDO) of the Argentina Buenos Aires – Mitre Passenger Railway Line Modernization Project are to: (a) improve the reliability and safety of the Mitre Line; and (b) increase accessibility in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. The proposed project has three components, all three components contribute to climate mitigation and incorporate climate adaptation measures to enhance the resilience of the railway system in Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.

The Sao Tome e Principe Transport Sector Development and Coastal Protection Project aims to enhance connectivity, sustainability, safety, and climate resilience of selected roads. Key activities include training road maintenance community groups to adopt ecosystem-based approaches for stabilization and coastal protection, promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
