The project development objective is to improve irrigation services and agricultural productivity in the target areas. The project will support the rehabilitation of lakes to enhance resilience to drought and soil conservation and afforestation activities within catchments to reduce flood and erosion risks.
This Development Policy Operation with a Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option (Cat DDO) supports the Republic of the Marshall Islands to (i) enhance fiscal management and (ii) build disaster and climate resilience. The Gambia Infrastructure Project aims to to improve access to resilient transport and energy infrastructure in selected areas of The Gambia and to strengthen the sectors’ capacity in the provision of related services. The project will rehabilitate or upgrade rural roads to all-season climate-resilient standards using gray and green methods. It will also provide consultant services to update technical specifications for the design resilient roads, including the use of NBS.
The project will strengthen the management of water resources and increase access to improved drinking water and sanitation services in selected regions by financing: (i) mobilization and management of water resources for multiple uses (including rehabilitation of large and small dams and hydrometric systems); (ii) expansion of urban and rural water supply systems; (iii) sanitation and hygiene services including fecal sludge treatment plants and institutional WASH; and (iv) institutional strengthening and project management, with a Contingent Emergency Response Component for shocks.
The project will strengthen climate and disaster risk management capacity and reduce flood risks in selected cities in the Democratic Republic of Congo by financing resilient urban infrastructure (e.g., stormwater drainage, culverts, canals, bridges, and retention basins) and institutional strengthening across national, provincial, and local levels. It includes components for resilient infrastructure in targeted cities, DRM capacity building, project management, and a Contingent Emergency Response Component to enable rapid reallocation of funds in case of eligible emergencies
The project will improve access to climate-resilient infrastructure and basic services in selected Central African Republic cities by financing flood and erosion risk reduction and neighborhood upgrades. Eligible works include stormwater drainage (culverts, bridges, canal outlets), water retention basins, dredging of drains, and nature-based solutions such as urban parks, street tree planting, and gully/slope stabilization (e.g., Krainer walls and slope planting).
