A GEF-financed regional IPF that strengthens preparedness of governments and the private sector in Georgia, Moldova, Türkiye, and Ukraine to reduce pollution in the Black Sea. The project delivers national policy/legal assessments and harmonization recommendations; prepares investment recommendations and pre-feasibility analyses for high-impact depollution projects; runs eco-innovation challenges and grants to pilot private-sector solutions; and supports regional knowledge sharing and dialogue.

Belize Blue Economy Program

The project supports sustainable coastal and blue economy development by combining policy and institutional reforms with targeted urban investments. Components include (i) development and adoption of spatial planning, tourism and environmental policies and a carbon market framework; (ii) upgrading the Belize City wastewater treatment plant to reduce land-based pollution; (iii) expansion of the potable water network in South San Pedro; and (iv) a solid waste management pilot in San Pedro, alongside project management and a contingent emergency response.

The project reduces land-based pollution entering Albania’s South-West Coastal Belt aquatic environment. Components include wastewater treatment expansion, improved sanitation services, solid waste and plastics management, and nature-based measures such as wetland restoration, afforestation and slope stabilization, and small green infrastructure for nutrient filtration in the Vjosa River basin.

The development objective of Air Quality Improvement Project for Kyrgyz Republic is to i) strengthen the capacity of the Kyrgyz Republic to manage air quality; and ii) reduce net PM2.5 and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions in Bishkek. This project has four components. 1) Strengthen Air Quality Management System, has the following components: (i) Enhancing Ambient AQ Data Collection, Analysis, and Dissemination; and (ii) Enhancing AQ Management and Pollution Control.
