The regional operation improves regional collaboration and the socioeconomic and climate resilience of border-zone communities in the northern regions of Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo. It finances community‑driven, climate‑screened local infrastructure and services (e.g., water points/small systems, schools, health posts, rural markets, local roads/footpaths, youth facilities), supports livelihoods and local economic development, trains community and technical facilitators, and establishes a Regional Coordination Platform with joint studies and digital data-sharing.

This Development Policy Financing with a Catastrophe Deferred-Drawdown Option (Cat DDO) strengthens the Government of the Philippines’ capacity to manage disaster and climate risks across education, human settlements, and health systems. Policy actions integrate risk‑informed and evidence‑based resilience measures in school infrastructure planning and emergency preparedness; mainstream resilience in land use planning, urban design strategies, and establishment of green/open spaces; and embed resilience standards in the construction of health facilities.

This Development Policy Operation with a Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option (Cat DDO) supports the Republic of the Marshall Islands to (i) enhance fiscal management and (ii) build disaster and climate resilience. Policy actions include establishing core public financial management and procurement processes, and strengthening the disaster and climate policy framework via the Disaster Risk Management Act (2023), a Sea Level Rise Adaptation Policy, and a forthcoming National Building Act/Code.

A GEF-financed regional IPF that strengthens preparedness of governments and the private sector in Georgia, Moldova, Türkiye, and Ukraine to reduce pollution in the Black Sea. The project delivers national policy/legal assessments and harmonization recommendations; prepares investment recommendations and pre-feasibility analyses for high-impact depollution projects; runs eco-innovation challenges and grants to pilot private-sector solutions; and supports regional knowledge sharing and dialogue. 

The Gambia Infrastructure Project

The Gambia Infrastructure Project aims to to improve access to resilient transport and energy infrastructure in selected areas of The Gambia and to strengthen the sectors’ capacity in the provision of related services. The project will rehabilitate or upgrade rural roads to all-season climate-resilient standards using gray and green methods. It will also provide consultant services to update technical specifications for the design resilient roads, including the use of NBS.
