The Green, Resilient and Inclusive Regeneration of the Central Area of Porto Alegre aims to to support an inclusive and sustainable regeneration of the Municipality of Porto Alegre’s Urban Core through integrated investments to improve accessibility, livability, and promote other positive externalities. The project will invest in open green spaces to help mitigate flooding in combination with gray infrastructure.

The development objective of the Espírito Santo Water Security Management Project for Brazil is to: (i) to strengthen the Borrower’s capacity to manage water security risks in a changing climate; (ii) to reduce those risks in selected areas of the Borrower’s territory; and (iii) in case of an eligible crisis or emergency, respond promptly and effectively to it. The project comprises of five components. The project will implement NBS to reduce water security risks in selected river basins and support integrated flood risk management. 

The objectives of the Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Project are to expand the area under legal protection and improve management of Protected Areas, and increase the area under restoration and sustainable management in the Brazilian Amazon. There are four components to the project, the first component being amazon protected areas system. This component aims to expand and consolidate an over-60-million-ha PA system in the Brazilian Amazon and advance ongoing efforts to secure its long-term financial sustainability by capitalizing the ARPA Transition Fund.

The objectives of the Project are to: (a) improve sustainable water resources management, and (b) increase access to sanitation in the Borrower’s territory. The project seeks to improve watershed management, including through reforestation and improved land management.

The Rio de Janeiro Adjustment and Sustainable Development Policy Loan supports strengthening fiscal sustainability and transitioning to low-carbon, resilient urban development in Rio de Janeiro. The program promotes urban afforestation through legislation establishing a low-emission district in the city center, advancing sustainability and inclusivity.

The Government of Brazil, through the Municipal Secretariat for Planning, Teresina, is implementing the Teresina Enhancing Municipal Governance and Quality of Life Project for Brazil with the objectives to: a) modernize and improve the management capacity of Teresina Municipal Government in the financial, urban environmental, service delivery, and economic development fields, and b) improve the quality of life of the low-income population of the Lagoas do Norte region of the city.

The Government of the Brazilian State Espírito Santo has requested World Bank funds for the Espírito Santo Integrated Sustainable Water Management Project with the objectives to: (a) improve sustainable water resources management; and (b) increase access to sanitation in the project area. The project aims at strengthening the state’s water sector institutions, providing increased wastewater collection and treatment services, supporting reforestation and sustainable land management practices, and improving the state's capacity to identify, monitor and prepare for disaster risks.
