The project will promote community-led nature-based solutions to climate change adaptation in the Usangu catchment by financing rainwater harvesting and storage facilities, boreholes, rehabilitation of small check/charco dams to reduce channel erosion and gullying, river training to enhance flows and reduce flooding, tree planting for catchment conservation, and village land use plans for sustainable landscape management. It also supports community empowerment, livelihoods, and capacity building (including training and seed funds for community conservation banks), with project management, M&E, and knowledge dissemination. Implementation is led by the Rufiji Basin Water Board, with ESF instruments and GRM in place; the operation is a JSDF grant approved December 19, 2024, effective June 10, 2025, closing November 30, 2027
