Sustainable Power and Irrigation for Nigeria Project

The project will strengthen dam safety and improve management of water resources for hydropower and irrigation in selected areas of Nigeria. It finances: (i) institutional strengthening (including national dam safety technical guidelines, digital dam asset management, hydromet and planning tools, and preparation of a Hydropower Master Plan and PPP for a priority hydropower project); (ii) irrigation modernization to deliver reliable, efficient water services and establish functioning Water User Associations; (iii) improvements in dam operations and safety through rehabilitation of existing dams, operational protocols, instrumentation, and emergency preparedness; and (iv) project management. Designs embed climate‑resilient operations (flood and drought management, environmental flows) and safeguards consistent with ESF requirements
