The project will improve rural access and the climate resilience of communities in targeted rural areas across Nigeria, and strengthen institutional capacity for managing the rural road network. It finances rehabilitation and upgrading of about 3,000 km of rural roads with climate‑resilient designs and road safety measures; climate‑informed maintenance of about 3,500 km; and the rollout of a climate‑risk module in the Nigeria Rural Transport Infrastructure Management System (NiTRIMs), alongside reforms to establish/operationalize Rural Access Road Agencies (RARAs) and the National Rural Roads Directorate under NADF.
