Past Events

Nature-based solutions are widely recognized as key transformational interventions to address climate and disaster risk challenges and contribute to the socio-economic well-being of communities through green or hybrid solutions.

During the GFDRR Partnership Days on May 22, GFDRR held a session on the recently published report from GPNBS. The panel discussion included experts from GFDRR, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, World Resources Institute, and the Seychelles Conservation and Climate Adaption Trust.

Rapid urbanization has brought a multitude of urban resilience challenges, including increasing disaster risk, pollution, and loss of urban green spaces. In many places, nature-based solutions (NBS) can address these challenges, while bringing benefits for biodiversity and the local economy.
On April 20, GPNBS participated in an Earth Week special event hosted by Harvard Alumni for Climate and the Environment. The panel discussion focused on diverse experiences in developing, implementing, and financing Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), with particular attention to the challenges and lessons learned in using NbS for climate mitigation and adaptation.
The session brought together speakers from a range of organizations to share insights on NbS projects across different scales and contexts.
