Upcoming Events
UR Abu Dhabi has been moved to May 10-14, 2027. For the first time, UR will take place in the Middle East region in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Other than rescheduling the dates, all event logistics remain the same. The Forum will take place at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi as planned. Registration and Call for Proposals remain open, with new deadlines for submissions.
Past Events

This event explores the connection between nature and mental health, emphasizing the value of urban green spaces. Beyond their ecological and climate benefits, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) offer significant mental health advantages, including reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, fostering social connections, and enhancing community resilience.

On November 7, GPNBS hosted a demonstration event to showcase advances on NBS in the World Bank, highlight recently published tools and knowledge, and show examples from task teams and government clients that received operational and technical support from GPNBS.
On September 20, GPNBS hosted a BBL to discuss lessons learned from World Bank projects that successfully integrated NBS in coastal settings. The session included presentations on coastal NBS projects in West Africa and Kiribati, focusing on implementation challenges, highlighting successes, and recommending approaches applicable in client countries.

On June 17, GPNBS participated in the GFDRR Partnership Days in Japan and presented on GFDRR’s impact on furthering the integration of NBS in disaster risk reduction efforts. The GFDRR 2024 Partnership Days event, held at the UR2024 in Himeji, Japan, brought together GFDRR members, observers, partners, and World Bank staff from all over the world.

Understanding Risk Global Forum 2024 (UR24):
UR24 Himeji+ was the largest Understanding Risk Global Forum to date, attracting over 1,700 attendees to Himeji City. This event served as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation in Disaster Risk Management (DRM).
