A Catalogue of Nature-based Solutions for Coastal Resilience

Coastal areas rank among the world's most vulnerable regions, facing the combined pressures of natural hazards, high population density, and concentrated economic activity in low lying zones. These hazards are compounded by the degradation of coastal ecosystems that provide essential services, including hazard mitigation, nature-based tourism, and habitat for species.
Hosted by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR), this event will present the new Catalogue of Nature-based Solutions for Coastal Resilience, developed by the World Bank Group's Global Program on Nature-based Solutions for Climate Resilience (GPNBS) with support from GFDRR, the Government of Japan, and PROBLUE, the World Bank Group's multi-donor trust on the blue economy. Presentations will highlight how the Catalogue provides practical guidance on applying nature-based solutions (NBS) to address coastal risks and build climate resilience, while promoting job creation and enhancing opportunities for tourism. This will be followed by a panel discussion with World Bank Group and international experts on how the Catalogue can facilitate the upscaling of NBS for climate resilience in coastal regions.
Join us for this virtual discussion with World Bank Group and international experts to discuss the importance of working with nature to strengthen coastal resilience, boost economic growth, and enhance biodiversity.
